THE BIRTH OF HEART ALIVE:

Heart Alive was created by, Mike Alcini (Heart Alive's drummer). Residing in Las Vegas, Mike decided to seek out other local musicians with the same love and passion for Heart’s music by placing an ad in Craigs list. Julie Torchin (Heart Alive's "Nancy") answered that ad saying “This is your lucky day”.

Julie had previously been in a popular Heart/Fleetwood Mac tribute for 7 years in Chicago opening for many national acts throughout their reign. Julie and Danny Buss (Heart Alive’s bassist) moved out to Las Vegas and met Sonia Kemeny (Heart Alive's "Ann"), who was running her own karaoke show. Sonia and Julie struck up a close friendship and got a rock band together, WildHeart, where they were planning to include a large catalog of Heart and Fleetwood Mac tunes. When they were just about ready to start booking, their lead guitarist became seriously ill and the band fell apart—each of the members going their own ways and getting into different projects. Sonia was doing a duo, and Julie started another Fleetwood Mac tribute—but not adding the Heart this time around since Sonia had moved out of state. Julie met Brad Torchin (Heart Alive's lead guitarist/keyboardist) and they married and started performing Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks parts in the newly reformed WildHeart. Danny Buss (also in WildHeart) left the band to play with an Ozzy Osbourne tribute, and Dave Davis joined as WildHeart’s bassist.

Julie and Brad mentioned to Mike about Danny and that he would most likely want to play bass for Heart Alive. After Danny joined the band, Dave Davis (Heart Alive's lead guitar) expressed a great interest in playing Roger Fisher’s part. Brad then taking on Howard Leese’s part as guitarist/keyboardist. The band was almost complete except for the key ingredient: Ann Wilson’s part. Julie immediately thought of Sonia and her incredible vocals—remembering how well they gelled together on the Heart tunes, and called her up to see what she thought about the idea. Julie thought it was a long shot for her to return to Vegas, especially after she recently had a baby. However Sonia immediately became extremely excited about the project and she and her husband packed up the family and moved back to Las Vegas to make this long time dream finally happen!

Mike got his wish faster than he had anticipated, and “Heart Alive” was born!
